Field Engineer

For technical or application-based fluid system needs, you may need a Swagelok Field Engineer. This dedicated group were selected for their experience in fluid systems and are required to earn certification. They provide in-depth technical support by drawing from extensive training and a broad network of expertise. Read more about the development of field engineering.

Southern California is home to several field engineers who coordinate with others around the world and support customers in a wide range of industries and applications. Just a few of the services they provide include:

  • Identifying potential system improvements
  • Offering life-cycle cost analyses
  • Completing leak detection
  • Supporting new system planning
  • Providing safety training and installation guidance

Field Engineers in Southern California include Jon Burris, Director of Engineering. Jon manages engineering services and works closely with customers on assembly projects, in addition to supporting customers locally and nationally as a field engineer. Among other specialization, Jon is certified by Swagelok in regulator selection, and is uniquely available to customers needing technical guidance in this area. 

Mark Baran is the second Swagelok Field Engineer based locally. Mark has worked with Swagelok corporate and Swagelok Southern California collectively since 2000. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and he previously managed assembly and fabrication and held the role of Quality Manager for San Diego Fluid System Technologies. Mark now focuses on spending time with customers and learning about their applications and needs up close. He is certified in hose advisory, supporting companies with trouble-shooting and selection in this area. 

In the field engineer role, Mark and Jon provide guidance as to how customers can ensure their fluid systems, and their facilities as a result, operate at peak performance.
